  Gladiolus L. gladiolus, glad Iridaceae

Gladiolus callianthus Marais and numerous hybrids are most commonly produced. Gladioli come in two main forms: standard types produce one spike per corm and up to 30 large flowers per spike; miniatures may have several stems per corm. Gladiolus flowers are further classified according to size: small, medium, large, and giant.
