Modern cultivars are called Dendranthema
xgrandiflorum Kitam. Hybrids of this
genus originated in China and have been cultivated for over 1400 years.
Modern chrysanthemums come in a huge variety of colors, forms, and petal
styles. Disbudded chrysanthemums have one head per stem, sprays have several.
