Origin

X Solidaster is a hybrid between Solidago and Aster, probably Solidago canadensis x Aster ptarmicoides.

Brief characterization

Morphologically more or less in between Aster and Solidago. Alternate, linear-lanceolate leaves, serrate toward apex; corymb-like much-branched panicles bearing numerous radiate heads, to 1.5 cm across; disc flowers (florets) golden yellow, ray florets golden yellow, fading to light yellow; pappus of capillary bristles.
